Permaculture | Manali

Permaculture is a design philosophy and set of practices that aim to create sustainable agricultural systems. It emphasizes the use of diverse and perennial plants, integrated systems of crop and animal production, and the conservation of natural resources.

The goal of permaculture is to create self-sufficient and resilient ecosystems that can provide for human needs while regenerating the natural environment. It draws inspiration from natural ecosystems and traditional farming practices and incorporates ecology, biology, and anthropology principles.

At Forktail Manali, we have a 40-year-old Lahauli farm where we grow various kinds of Apple, Cherry, Apricot, Plum and Pear trees mixed with Oak, Walnut and Pecan nuts. We also produce many flowers and vegetables on the farm such as Asparagus, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Zucchini, Tomatoes, Chives, Egg Plants, Radishes, Turnips, Pumpkins, Potatoes, Kidney Beans etc.

There are plenty of flowers on the property which include lots of Roses, Magnolia, Hydragenum, Tulips, Narssica, and Butter cups the list can go on but I am sure you get the idea.
